Agibly has a new owner (Senior Agibly, LLC). While no longer owned, operated by or affiliated in any way with KSL.com or DDM, Agibly still offers free resources for older adults and connects them with professional care providers.
Since January 2001, Ability 1st Utah has been providing services to individuals with all types of disabilities and of any age to help them achieve their goal of remaining independent in their homes and active in their communities. Our organization seeks to help individuals with disabilities to remove whatever limitations they may encounter along the way and turn them into opportunities for developing their abilities to enjoy independent living lifestyles.
Independent Living is a philosophy and a movement of people with disabilities who strive for self-determination, equal opportunities and self-respect. Independent Living does not mean that we want to do everything by ourselves and that we do not need anyone else in our lives and want to live in isolation. It means that we have the same right to choices and control in our everyday lives that our non-disabled brothers and sisters, neighbors and friends have and take for granted. We would like to grow up in and with our families, go to the neighborhood school, use the same bus as our neighbors, work in jobs that are in line with our education and interests, and have families of our own.
Our sole focus is to remove whatever limitations are currently there and transforming those limitations into fruitful skills that will help Individuals with disabilities enjoy an independent lifestyle. Living independently allows us to enjoy a high level of personal satisfaction, confidence, and reassurance. Millions of Americans who experience disabilities have an established foundation that allows them to lead lives of independence. They fulfill every imaginable role in their communities, overcoming the barriers of misconception and misunderstandings.
Individuals with disabilities prefer to live in their chosen community environment outside of nursing homes. We can assist them with the necessary support services they will need to successfully transition out into the community. Ability 1st Utah assists people with disabilities who are living in a nursing home, intermediate care facilities for intellectual disabilities, or other types of institutions, to relocate into a community-based living environment in our center’s service area, Utah, Wasatch, Juab and Sanpete Counties. Our Staff provides individualized services with advocacy assistance, skills training, and other assistance in helping individuals to understand and utilize federal, state and local programs that will assist them in their transition process.
